They were thinking instead of car payments, baseball scores, haircuts, vacations, enemas, family visits. And a guy who is during this time often bhkovski unapologetic asshole. Granted, this was the first Bukowski novel I’ve read.

I think Bukowski needs women the way he needs anything else, he just relies on them to faktotuj him through the day. Absolutely pick this up, but don’t let this be the only thing of his that you read. Fajtotum, on the other hand, is about the many women he screws in between drinking and writing.

Factotum by Charles Bukowski (2 star ratings)

I think I could start at any random chapter in Factotum and still Maybe this is what happens to your writing when you hang out with too many Beatniks. Chinaski’s story isn’t pretty, but Bukowski isn’t concerned about offending a reader’s middle-class American sensibilities.

You know, don’t know what the fuss is about. This book confirmed for me that Bukowski only tells the one story. I seem to recall I did. Just the spilt guts of a self-aggrandizing louse.

This has the typical Beat directionless self-aggrandisement – listing every single nothing-much thing he does – but whereas someone like Kerouac had an infectious enthusiasm for life which carries you through, Bukowski just hates everything.

Bukpvski I’ve got better things ffaktotum read. Try adding this search to your want list. It becomes over repetitive. His lack of publishing success at this time caused him to give up writing in and spurred a ten-year stint of heavy drinking.

Daje otkaze, dobija otkaze. His first book of poetry was published in ; he went on to publish more than forty-five books of poetry and prose, including PulpScreams from the Balconyand The Last Night of the Earth Poems Books by Charles Bukowski.

I’ll probably be avoiding his novels from now on. Frankly, I was horrified by life, at what a man had to do simply in order to eat, sleep, and keep himself clothed. This is NOT to say that I agree with treating women like shit the way Bukowski clearly does, but that his shittiness is a stark reminder of certain horrible realities that faktotmu certainly exist in the minds of many men.

It’s the only good fight there is. I just can’t take it. He doesn’t hate everything in an insightful or funny way, there’s no life history to clue you in on why.

He sometimes describes the personalities of the women he meets, but it is very rare, the women in Bukowski novels, even the ones he ‘really likes’ are often described by how ‘fuckable’ they are or how great their ass or tits are, oh and legs, Bukowski loves legs.

Bukovskk bolesno faktoutm i urnebesnih trenutaka.

Damn its hard to figure him out. Jun 27, Garrett Faylor rated it it was ok. He says fuck it and walks upto the crowd, ‘get out of my way’ he grunts, trudging through them. Chang rated it it was amazing.

Bukowski had a very tumultuous home life which he supposedly addresses in Ham on Ryewhich I have yet to readespecially with his father, which is accountable for a lot of the reasons why he is who he is.
